Rev. Dr. Wayne Weathers

Pastor Wayne M. Weathers was born in Chester Pennsylvania to Mr. and Mrs. Ed and Mary Weathers. He has one older brother and is a 1985 graduate of Chester High School. After graduating from Chester High School, Pastor Weathers attended Virginia State University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Hotel-Restaurant Management. Before graduating from Virginia State University, Pastor Weathers was blessed to receive an internship with the United States Navy learning how to be a Hospitality Manager at Barbers Point Naval Air Station in Barbers Point, Hawaii. After college, Pastor Weathers was employed with Marriot Health Care and Corporate Service Division where he worked at various Food Service accounts in Baltimore, Maryland. It was in Baltimore, Maryland where Pastor Weathers met his wife Benita and received his calling into the ministry, but did not respond until he moved to North Carolina. Pastor Weathers responded to his calling into the ministry at Second Baptist Church and attended Duke University Divinity School where he received a Master’s of Divinity Degree in 1999. As a student at Duke University Divinity, Pastor Weathers was elected and served as the President of the Black Seminarians Union. In addition to receiving his Master’s of Divinity Degree, Pastor Weathers was ordained by the New Hope Baptist Association and was called to pastor the Morehead Avenue Baptist Church in Durham, NC. Pastor Weathers is a graduate of Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA obtaining a Doctorate of Ministry. Pastor Weathers has previous pastoral experiences where he has pastored a church in Durham, North Carolina and a church in Philadelphia, PA. On November 30, 2014, Pastor Weathers was led to organize and launch Vision of Hope Baptist Church located in Philadelphia. Pastor Weathers has been a community leader in Philadelphia serving in the following capacities:

 

  1. The Black Clergy of Philadelphia and Vicinity where he is the Third Vice President.

  2. Vice Moderator At Large of the Pennsylvania Eastern Keystone Baptist Association

  3. Serve as a member of Pennsylvania Conference of Missionary Baptist Churches

  4. Former host of his own Political Talk Show on WURD

  5. Serves as an Adjunct Professor at Center for Urban Theological Studies/Lancaster Bible College teaching Graduate and Undergraduate Courses

  6. Conducted lectures at Lutheran Theological Seminary to both students pursuing Master’s of Divinity and Doctorate of Ministry Degrees

  7. Former Member of the Mayor’s Commission on Drug and Alcohol Abuse

  8. Member of Phi Beta Sigma Inc and Kappa Kappa Psi National Honary Band Fraternity

 

Pastor Weathers is married to Minister Benita Weathers and they have three children: Jasmine, James, and Kayla and is taking care of his godson Norman Landis Jr. He loves to read, write poetry, and loves to engage in discussions and debates about politics. There are a lot of accomplishments that Pastor Weathers have made, but he would rather hear Jesus say to him “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
